our story

Puzzle Lab was founded by Tinka Robev and Andrew Azzopardi, who met studying architecture at the University of Waterloo in 2012.

The couple moved to Victoria, BC in 2014 where they started Studio Robazzo, a multidisciplinary design & branding agency.

During the coronavirus pandemic, they came up with the idea to launch a puzzle company to encourage more people to get off their devices and into the real world.

Since its founding, Puzzle Lab has been dedicated to fabricating heirloom-quality puzzles as well as providing a platform for talented Canadian artists.

We create quality time.

When people piece together our cleverly designed works of art, they experience challenge, determination, connection, epiphany. Whimsical delight and inner satisfaction follow them far beyond the puzzle table.

Bringing joy into the world through tactile play, Puzzle Lab also commits to doing right by people and the planet. We raise the bar for ethical employment, provide meaningful support for artists, and make environmental responsibility part of every decision.

In a nutshell, we make the world better by piecing broken pictures back together.

Eco Friendly

We strive to be eco-conscious in every decision we make and don’t use any plastic in our product or packaging. Even our shipping is carbon neutral through a carbon credit offset program.

Crafted in BC, Canada

Our puzzles are crafted with care out of our downtown Victoria, BC studio. We are thrilled to be featuring artwork by both established and up-and-coming Canadian artists on our puzzles.

Heirloom Quality

Unlike regular paper puzzles, our high-quality materials and thick & sturdy wooden pieces mean this puzzle will last a very long time and is great for passing along when you’re done.

a new way to discover Canadian art

We are proud to partner with both established and up-and-coming artists across Canada to showcase their original work on our unique puzzles.

This provides puzzlers with exciting beautiful visuals, and it also gives the artists another platform to showcase their work. Many of our artist partners have said they’ve noticed an uptick in their social media followings and inquiries since seeing their work featured on our puzzles. After all, once someone spends hours putting each brush stroke together piece-by-piece, they develop a special fondness for the art!

You can feel good about directly supporting these artists, with a percentage royalty from each and every puzzle sale going directly into their pockets.

If you’re an artist living in Canada, you can submit artwork for consideration by filling out this form. We look forward to seeing your work!
