Vancouver Islanders know there is no feeling like being out on the water, or on the shore, and spotting a pod of dorsal fins. They cut through the surface with grace, wonder, and serious power. The two brothers featured in this piece were joined by their family of 50+ orcas in the water off Vancouver Island. Can you imagine the sight?

The orca is an iconic symbol of the West Coast. In fact, they’re one of the things that inspired artist Miki Morita to travel to Vancouver Island from Japan. Her acrylic and oil paintings are on display at the Whale Interpretive Centre in Telegraph Cove, BC, as well as in private collections across Canada, the US, France, Australia, and Japan. But you can bring one home for yourself by assembling this pristine, calming wood jigsaw puzzle.

I really enjoyed this puzzle. It was a smaller sized puzzle, which I knew going in to it. I wanted to test the waters before jumping into a bigger more expensive one. I found the puzzle a little more challenging than your average puzzle due to the unique shapes and I really enjoyed just how different it was from standard puzzles. I will most likely try another one down the road. This would probably be a four Star review, with 5 reserved for larger puzzles. The reason it is not is because the image is some sort of print over wood. When I received my box, some of the pieces had small chips on the edges that are very visible when the puzzle is complete. There were several unique pieces within this puzzle and one of them has a fairly sizable chip and was missing 33 percent of the print for that particular piece. Definitely enjoyed it though.

We were visiting your Victoria store. The store is amazing and the staff was very helpful. The puzzles I wanted was out of stock but the staff was very helpful in helping me process an order so that they could be delivered directly to my home. Which was great, as I didn't have to find space in my luggage! I received emails letting me know that the order was being process, shipped and delivered. The experience was great.

Looks interesting but one is a Xmas gift and I haven’t put the other together yet. Wondering if the whales will have missing pieces like the chipmunk I had purchased earlier. I didn’t like a number of side/corner pieces on that one being MIA (on purpose I finally assumed)

This is a beautifully made puzzle, and the unique shapes of the pieces really contribute to the challenge and entertainment of the puzzle. Highly recommend!

This was a wonderfully challenging puzzle, right up to placing the final piece. Considering how small it was, I was surprised it took some 3 hours to complete. It’s a definite keeper as I can see me doing it again and again. Thank you Puzzle Lab.

I thought it would take months because of the shapes but it took 3 weeks for the bear and 2 weeks for the orcas. They were much more fun and challenging than regular jigsaws!

I enjoyed this puzzle. It was harder than I thought it might be, but I was also working it alone. It has some unusual cirleque pieces. It's beautiful and I would be happy to work it again!
